The PPFA is dedicated to the advancement of the profession of the farrier, and as an outlet for communication and education to the farriers and horse owners of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. By utilizing the tools and links available on this site, both farrier and horse owner should be able to navigate to the information they are seeking. The PPFA is proudly recognized as Chapter 53 of the American Farriers Association, and endeavors to support AFA certification among its' membership. There are however other trade associations which also offer trade certification programs , such as The Brotherhood of Working Farriers (BWFA), The Journeyman Horseshoers Union (JHU) and The Guild Of Professional Farriers. Many of whose members are also members of PPFA. PPFA supports all recognized Trade associations in there mission to educate and support the farriers of the Commonwealth.
